The lawyer, Steven Bertolino, said that an update on the case is expected to be provided either Tuesday, Nov. 23, or Wednesday, Nov. 24, WFLA News Channel 8, an NBC-affiliated station television news station in Tampa, Florida, reported on Tuesday.
Laundrie's remains were found in a Florida nature reserve on Wednesday, Oct. 20. His cause of death has not been released yet.
The 23-year-old was reported missing by his parents on Friday, Sept. 17.
He was the sole person of interest authorities named in the disappearance and homicide of 22-year-old Gabby Petito, who was Laundrie's fiancée. Her remains were found in a Wyoming national park on Sunday, Sept. 19.
The Teton County medical examiner determined that her death was caused by strangulation.
Bertolino told WFLA that the Laundrie family hasn't received the update on his case yet, but they will receive the information before it's publicly announced.
